Daiwa Certate, geary

Hi,

I'd like to ask if someone can help me to identify the possible reason for this. My new Certate 3000 immediately from the box had three faulty ball bearings with friction like scratchy feeling on turn. Now it is fixed by third party service (no authorised service here), but after service there is another and new issue. The reel on turn to front have a geary feeling, but when I turn backwards it is perfectly smooth. It is not very much geary, but enough to understand that it is not right.

Do you have a clue why is that when I turn in front, but not when I turn backward?

It is likely caused by the shims for the main gear not being put back in the proper places. I'd take it back and have the repair shop make it right, at no cost to you.

Thank you. Will ask another repairman to keep an eye on the gpmain gear shim. Could it be too much grease on the main gear too?

usually the opposite, either less grease or a lighter grade of grease gives a more "grinding" feeling. More grease usually gives a tighter feeling, more drag on winding.

Hello,

I removed the three screws cap which is removed first after removing the handle. I saw three shims and tried to screw the cap again, tried with one, two and three shims, but either way except with three shims It have very geary feelig. I left it as before with no success. I thought about the grease to bee too low on viscosity as the guy who serviced it used Quantum red sauce for which I know it is light grade. I then tried to open the reel in order to change the grease type, but I've stuck when I need to remove the one body side. I unscrewed the lower silver cap with rubber around it, screw under that cap which hold the body side and another screw seen from the outside of the reel which also keep the side body in place. I though it would be an easy one, but it wont remove at all. Any ideas?

The rotor will have to come off to get to the sideplate screws. Follow my guide here and you may be able to get it off without disturbing the magseal:
