That is a mint condition squidder, gonna be twice as tough with all the stainless upgrades?

Ted,
I like any Penn magnum reel, but that red rocket is the sexiest of them all.  I especially like the extra touch on the drag star, nice power handle (I love the look of the counter balance on your 99 though), and what eccentric lever are you using to get it perfectly parallel with the plate? Lastly, is that clear plastic on the eccentric lever? I prefer that over colors unless the color is close or spot on.
Always love seeing these colorful, sadly discontinued, aftermarket Penn reels all put together.
Thanks
Dom

Almost 9,000 hits tells me that Al did us all a favor by starting this thread....but my bank account says otherwise   :D :D

Magnums will always be on my radar thanks to Al and David..........and Bryan with his red 99.

Al started this thread with the comparison of a jigmaster 500 and a jigmaster magnum, so to continue on that, here is a standard red accurate squidder next to the gold magnum accurate squidder (140). This particular magnum has a 505 sleeve and a custom 5/1 gear set.....a squidder lovers dream, higher gear ratio and higher drag poundage.  :D...notice the gold headplate only has 5 frame screws. The larger gear housing left no room for that screw. I doubt it would ever be an issue.

Stay tuned, I'll be doing the grand daddy magnum comparison in a few days.....the magum 4/0 !!  ;D ;D

Is that a 4:1 or 5:1 gear set?

  Its 5/1 Al.

I checked it several times, and it's 5/1 for sure
