Nice bendo!  I can't wait to feel that pull again.

I hope heaven smells like the ocean air too!
I woke today and suddenly nothing happened.

I'll probably get sea sick in hell the way I'm going.  Dominick
Leave the gun.  Take the cannolis.

There are two things I don't like about fishing.  Getting up early in the morning and boats.  The rest of it is fun.

Reel 224

Wasn't it Jesus who filled Peters baskets wit fish and said he would make them fishers of men.

Nice report & pics! Thanks for sharing your piscatorial prowess with us! ;D

Would you mind telling me how you like your Exo 300 ?  Seems to haul up the bigs ones fine. How is it under load?

Thanks, steve

PS.i did a search and saw your post on the Exo from last year. It did not sound too promising right out of the box and was returned. Change your mind or get another and hot rod it?

hi steve-o.the reel has given me no trouble with any fish
i pulled the reel to pieces today and gave it a full service again.
i didnt need to,but i did.
you are right i did "hot dog" and the reel is great.
grease and oil ,handle,drag,bearings etc;
there is a feature ive never seen before
i looked at my other baitcasters, daiwa, shimano, plfueger, abu and none of them have it.
the tension cap is a clicker also.so
what you can do is set your reel for casting lures,so you dont get an overrun,
then back off, count the clicks(3 in my case) and you are in freespool   ready
to drop a bait to the bottom, count 3 clicks up and you are ready for lures again
you dont have to fiddle around getting the tension cap  correct
its ok every time
im a bit lucky, that rod i use with it is absolutley perfect (sry, dont know what it is)
its a loverly balanced outfit for 20lb braid
i bought mine when they 1st came out,so they maybe a lot better now
its a good reel,"hot dogged"
hope this helps.

Wallace - that helps a lot, thanks. I am in the market for smaller but plenty stout reels for light jigging and ocean run salmon river casting. I have looked at most and Abu Garcias draw my loyalty more than most. However I am open minded enough to try something equal or better or has an additional feature like the clicker cap. that's good thinking, IMO.

The ones I have looked at internally and otherwise make me think that possibly somewhere in China is a small industrial city called Reel Town where they share parts, paints, ideas and designs and just call them different names.  My Okuma reel handles are interchangeable with my Abus...???

I look for good value, quality, durability, ease of maintenance and fair price point then ... how does it feel/work in my hands disregarding brands, names, labels, claims, etc.. and BUY that product.

thanks again and tight lines!

Great report Wallace - stoked to see you're getting out on the water.
Will be in Oz later this week chasing waves, but on the other coast.
Keen to get over your way sometime and join ya for a fish!

hi stevo re;exo
just an update, the clicker on the tension cap was new to me
because i was comparing it to what i have.mostly older  baitcasters
it seems its not so unsual on modern reels.a good feature never the less.
