Been putting this off for a looooong time...

Three big bins of loose Penn parts with no reel to go to -- some new -- mostly used.

Conventional & Spinning.

Could probably make a few reels out of these -- but I think they would be more valuable Ultrasonically cleaned, sorted, and put away in proper categories.

They will just get mixed in with the new parts, and used up as needed.

Picked up a couple of extra tool boxes just for this purpose --

About halfway completed -- hope to be done in a couple of days.

Believe it or not -- everything has a place -- this will save much time looking through box after box -- and the part will already be cleaned and ready to go.

And it should save a little money -- since I would not be purchasing parts I did not know I already had.

Best,

I could learn a thing or a million of your organization.  Wow.
:D I talk with every part I send out and each reel I repair so that they perform at the top of their game. :D

Fred I don't know where you get your energy.  That is some collection of parts.  Dominick
Leave the gun.  Take the cannolis.

There are two things I don't like about fishing.  Getting up early in the morning and boats.  The rest of it is fun.

Islandgypsy

You have a simply amazing collection...good luck with your chore, Fred.

Do you keep everything ? Rusted, cracked, corroded parts too?

Marc..

Only keep what is good......

Cracked, bent, badly rusted, badly corroded -- just get tossed in the garbage.

You see some guys on ebay sell parts that are so corroded and asking price like it they were new  ::) who would buy those ?

There was a lot for sale just as yours for $500 last week at the left side of the coast, the seller wasn't interested sending it to the right side.
The person that got it did very good. It wasn't easy to estimate, but I was thinking well over $1500 in parts from what I saw.
Forget about all the reasons why something may not work. You only need to find one good reason why it will.

Reel 224

Just had my budget blown for the season. My truck needed new brakes and brake lines that is costing me $1100.00, that ends any possibility of me doing any work on my reels for this season. >:(

Yes, Sal --

There are some good buys occasionally on ebay -- but one must be lucky to get them.

What amazes me is the amount of sellers listing one part for twice, or more than it is worth -- IMO.

Folks do not have to buy -- or one can always make an offer -- but it is nothing short of gouging the buyer.

It appears as if many sellers just price things double their worth -- knowing they will be in a position to discount if there is an interested buyer.  This is also done on CL -- most items are amateurs pricing things twice their worth -- because they have heard tales about the asking prices vs. selling prices.

Of course, many ebayers and CL buyers are amateurs also -- so it evens out and keeps the gouging price structure alive and well.

The sold auctions tell a story, if one looks for a pattern.

We are very fortunate to have a vast array of folks who can offer used and NOS parts, custom engineered upgrades, tough to find anywhere parts, and much more -- all at fair prices.

Folks like Randy at Vintage, Alan T., Bryan, Tom H, Lee, 777s,  Alan C., Dwight, Jon,  and many  others.  We have a precious network for our craft -- and I do not take it for granted.

Just my thoughts.

Best,

Fred
