Hello All,  I see that this thread has not been active for a while but I thought I would try to get some information on a couple of bamboo Shakespeare rods that I purchased several years ago.  I came across them by accident while shopping in a "junk-tique" shop with my wife.  They are in like-new condition still in their original socks in their original shipping carton from 1938. 

I am most interested in the line guide placement and its function.  They are reversible rods with a rotating tip top and only one back-to-back line guide near the tip top.  Has anyone seen this configuration before and know what was thought behind just a single line guide guide?
