Wow, there must be a Time Machine somewhere, looks like that one is straight off the stores shelf
Do what you can with that you have where you are

Seriously! John, You making these damn things or what?  They don't get cleaner and newer than that. Ted, that doorknob 12/0 is a special reel.  Anyone else out there with a door knob 12/0? Never seen one before that one.
Great finds Gents!
Best,

Here is one I found in a pawn shop, couldn't pass it up for $15.00. A Penn #77 reel, which included a Penn #22 Reel Catalog, a slightly used tube of Penn Grease, and the box which is missing the top.

The reel was mounted on a older 5 1/2' Lews Stick casting rod.

The reel looks to have been used very little. I'm going to clean that up a little and relube it.
It will go on the shelf with the catalog, box and the the tube of grease for display.

On the rod I just have to rewrap the 1st guide after the tip, and I should have a good casting rod to use.

Does anyone know when the #22 catalog was printed? Judging by the $3 price on the reel, I'm thinking early to mid 50's?

Thanks

Gracias Pescador ! No
cracked side plates ....
No missing parts,
all reels functional .
Will try and locate metal
spools for the reels sporting plastic. I need to dig
thru my Penn pile and
re-determine flippers/keepers.
(Truth be told I'm really
liking the Squidder... even
has a great free spin ... a
lucky nice one. I feel
fortunate that I hit the swap
And the stars were in alignment.

Thanks Crow .... Just luck .
Here is a photo of after
Clean , degrease , re-grease,
oil lube . Only two
( Monofil , JigMaster ) lack
cosmetic appeal. But, all
5 Penn's are fishable. I
hope I've given them another
two decades.

David, Thanks .... Can't
take much credit. Good
Bones. If the end user
matches these reels with
the appropriate target
species I can't help but
think lots of good memories
remain in these reels.
