I saw Alan Hawke mentioned that he uses Daiwa 555 for spinning reels, he likes it better than Cal's and Shimano drag grease.

Did some searching on the 555 and found this site linked below, I have never bought anything from this site, posted more for informational purposes.

I don't know how to do everything, but I know how to get everything done.

i'd have to know what it was made of before i'd ever change.  part of being an old fogie.  look how long it took me to change from shimano drag grease to cal's drag grease.   ;D
send me an email at alantani@yahoo.com for questions!

Nothing wrong with being an old fogie.

Penn Blue, Cals, Reel X. Nothing else. ;D

I also don't see a need to switch from Cal's.

FWIW, I have purchased a couple items from japantackle.com previously, with no problems.  Rakuten may be cheaper though (depending on how shipping works out).  http://global.rakuten.com/en/store/hedgehog-studio/item/10001673/

That is my arsenal, too, Daron, except I use TS 321 on spool bushings and bearings. The bottle I got for $12 is going to last a lifetime. I just got (but haven't yet used) a tube of Yamaha marine grease because my jar of Penn Blue is soon to be empty.

I used it on all my small bait casters and small spinning reels that have carbon drags.  Smooth but time will tell.  First season using it.  Have to soak the drags over night in 555.  Don't know how water will impact them yet.  I read good things about it though.

I thought old fogies use leather and lanolin?

A while ago Daiwa overhauled their range of reel greases and this was one of the new products.

I think the Daiwa techs here in Oz use it in their workshop along with their new gear grease.

I got some on the strength of Alan Hawke's recommendation but I recall that he also recommends soaking your drag washers in it overnight.

Just don't get the time to personally evaluate these things myself.

You should be able to obtain it from your local Daiwa parts distributor.
