I recently acquired another 12/0 from Dan. Reel looked in good shape. A Newer model with aluminum spool, mild corrosion.
I figured I would do a quick clean up and leave stock.
The drag stack looked new, dry, but new. Got everything cleaned up and noticed some serious wear on the ratchet sleeve and the dog.
I haven't seen anything like this without seeing considerable wear on other parts of the drive train.
Everything else looked like new.
Never seen a dog worn like that in a newer reel. Hard telling how this happened.
Puzzled, I put in a new ss sleeve, dog and spring. Topped it off with an ss handle arm from Adam and a 5/0 grip.
The stack in this reel is very tight. Probably yielding 15lbs of drag with the star backed off.
Typical seven stack with an extra washer on top, then a Belleville and a spacer. I like it like that. ;)

Daron, I've seen reels like that & were is nice shape except for the gear sleeve & dog worn out. Usually from a lot of trolling lures skipping on the surface.     Rudy

I just want to thank Dan for the good deal on this reel. ;D
I have no problem upgrading parts.
You are probably right Rudy, lots of stress on the ratchet and dog, but nothing else.
This reel is ready to go now.
Mo, Adam sells these handle arms cheap.
The handle comes the Boss himself.

Daron, what are you going to do with a tiny reel like that?

You are a funny Guy Albert.
I can't afford to buy any more Everol's right now.
The 12/0 is still my favorite because of its size and ease of handling.

Glad it worked out!  Very interesting about the wear on the dog...glad you are giving her a second life!

Some fishing techniques just hammer on that a/r.

Nice that the rest of it was in good shape.

Yes, it's a good size reel.  Not too large/heavy and not too small.  Useful for bringing up most of what bites.
