You guys think it's unreasonable that I'm a bit annoyed that it took 5 days for the person to ship my item when I paid the guy as soon as I won the bid? The thing is, I assumed my reel was on its way already until I received an email from ebay telling me he just shipped it last night. Not that I need it right away.

Shark Hunter

Yeah,
5 days is a little much. Maybe something came up.
It happens to me all the time.
After a week, I'll start blowing up their email.
After the second, I file a claim if it isn't on the way, or they have a very good reason.
I have accounts with USPS, Fed Ex and UPS, so I can tell if it has been sent, even if he doesn't tell me.

Some seller only deliver once a week. You might have to look closely at the listing to see what the delivery time is stated.

On Ebay you are supposed to ship within 3 business days unless it specifies otherwise. If it goes thorough the weekend it's really 4 days.

Sometimes when I'm busy it takes me a couple of days to ship. If I'm not busy, I'll ship right away.

I reserve my negative feedback for people that really screw up. Lazy packing job, doesn't ship the item at all, lied about the condition, arrives broken, etc.

Sellers have it pretty rough on Ebay. You have to deal with all sorts of nonsense. Nonpaying buyers, feedback extortion, scams, partial refund demands, people who return things because they found a better deal and select item not as described so they can stick you with two shipping charges, negative feedback, etc...... To add insult to injury, sellers can't even leave negative feedback for the buyers that do these kinds of things! Negative feedback is only for buyers to leave for sellers. Talk about a double standard.

I have 100% feedback on all my accounts and I've worked really hard to maintain that status. One negative comment can hurt a sellers reputation which can affect business. Personally, I'd just let it go.

before anything or even get crazy mad, please contact the seller.
ebay have some rules for vendors and buyers, but normally you are making bussinnes with one-person-company that most of the time dont live for just selling on ebay, they can get sick, can have kids that can get sick, etc

but I understand, if you care your bussines you also care to let the buyer that his shipping might be delayed 3 days or 5 days for whatever reason.

As of today I bought and paid for a Squidder  on 10/7. Today I still have not gotten notice of shipping. it's possible with the Jewish Holiday there was a delay.

I have not failed.  I just found 10,000 ways that won't work.

Don't get me wrong. I'm not going to give a negative review just on the shipping delay. I was just happily anticipating my package by the end of the week when I find out it was just shipped last night and still in processing. Irritated enough to make a thread, but not fuming. Just a little concerned about the packaging and reel condition at this point. He has 100% good review, but he also does not have that many either.

I had a small part in a shipping envelope coming for my boat.  I fully expected it would be here Monday.  Whoops, it was Columbus day.  Bank was closed too.

I woke today and suddenly nothing happened.

Guess I'm old-school, but if there is going to be even the slightest shipping delay, I immediately send the buyer an e-mail explaining the situation and apologizing. Don't like making them wait; it only increases the anxiety. Communication between buyer and seller goes a long way towards mollifying what might otherwise have been an unpleasant transaction.

Technically since this past weekend was Columbus day weekend, it wasn't even sent late as Monday was a holiday. That's assuming you meant 5 days and not 5 business days.

No need to worry. If you ever get an item that's not the way it was advertised, you can send it back. Ebay will literally always side with the buyer. Even if it's a no returns item.

Just an FYI, if shipping time is important to you, it pays to read the fine print. If the item states economy shipping or FedEx smartpost, it could take up to two weeks to receive the item. Smartpost is a ground service that uses the postal service to make final delivery. If going from coast to coast, I've seen it take 10-14 days. USPS Priority is typically the fastest.

I once ordered a part for my outboard, it was an old model and the new old stock factory part price was astronomical, I found a good used one on eBay, I waited, one week, two weeks, then I started to blow up the sellers email. Turned out the seller was an active military stationed in the Middle East, his wife was handling the sale and shipping for him and it was during a crazy period when there was a shooter taking out people all over Virginia and she was afraid to drive from her country home into the city to mail the part.  I told her no problem you just wait until you feel it's safe and then send it along.  The cops caught the bastard and ended the fright for everyone a week or so later and she got it shipped out the day it was announced he'd been caught.
Sometimes there is a good reason.

Smart Post is the absolute worst. I bought a reel & recieved it 50 days later. It's just as bad as Parcel Select.

That's very true. A message would have been appreciated, and can make all the difference in how a person feels. Living in Manhattan, sometimes there's a delay in the train after a stop. When we are notified of the reason, I feel perfectly fine, because I know it's not just because the person is texting on his phone or whatever, or being lazy. But sometimes the train just stops there and a couple minutes passes and we don't hear anything, and that can get pretty annoying very quickly. I do regret making a thread about this, as it seems petty. Good news is my package might be arriving tomorrow.
