Last weekend I took three of my boys to Assateague in Maryland to fish for Striped Bass and Black Drum. We mostly caught Clearnose Skates, not something we want. Number 3 son is probably the one who is least concerned with catching fish, but when I told him to watch the rods, he did and caught three fish in a row. He caught a skate, a Smooth Dogfish, and our first big Black Drum.

My sons are 18, 16, 14, and 12. They play along with my old reel hobby and fish with gear older than me. On this trip I took an assortment of modern and old reels. My Penn 710z was the big winner on this trip. We also used a 650SS, a Shakespeare 2091A, and Daiwa SS 5000, 7000C, 1600C, BG13, and a few others.
