cleaning poles and reels

I washed off my reel and pole after fishing this trip. Do you spray the pole and real off with anything?

Assuming everything was properly serviced before the trip, I just fresh water rinse and wipe with a dry cloth.....if storing them maybe wipe down with some light oil, making sure the rod eyes get a good wipe down.....Im sure others will chime in, with more detailed procedures.....Bill

Same as Bill. Tighten down drag before rinsing. I use the "mist" adjustment on  my hose nozzel. Spinners best to remove spool for drying after rinse.

I would steer clear of any oils on the rod, a fresh water rinse should be fine. If you ever need repair the rod the oil residue will interfere with the bond of the epoxy to the blank. Oil can get in the pores of the glass and is very difficult to remove. A brisk spray of water will get rid of any salt. If you want to get it shiny use an Mop-N-Glow for floors or similar that doesn't have any oil in it. Just my 2 cents

THANKS, A FRIEND GAVE THE NEW SAINT CORTIS ROD AND DAWIA REEL JUST FOR THE TRIP. I DID NOT SUMERAGE THE REAL OR POLE. SAID ALL HE WANTED WAS PICTURES OF THE POLE IN USE.  DID I SAY A VERY GOOD FRIEND I GOT INTO SHOOTING SPORTING CLAYS.

I take mine into the shower with me.

Warm water gently sprayed is the best way to remove salt deposits IMHO.  Air dry in the shade for a few days and then store.

I use a bucket with hot soapy water clean the rod and especially the eyes, the reel, then dry them off and spray a bit of spray wax and wipe em down dry again.

LOL.. Reel clean... I thought I was the only one who showered with my fishing  rods/ reels! Prop them I the corner of the shower, then when I am clean, I wash the rods, mainly the eyes. Air dry a while outside and mist with Ardent reel clean.
Only choice I have when fishing in San Diego, cuz I'm from out of state! Then I feel they are okay until I get home!

When I lived in apartments, I just threw my rods and reels in the swimming pool while I unloaded the boat. I never broke some of the reels down for years and when I did, they looked brand new. Never had a speck of corrosion. Now I lean them up against the house and hose them off and don't feel that they are as clean, but still have no corrosion. Have also done showers with my gear when traveling out of town. I sometimes think we over think this at times. BTW, the movie looks like the TX coast or at least the Gulf coast.
