Hello Everyone,

In the last couple of weeks I have worked in a few daiwa reels. (Exceler, Tatula-R and a Lexa 100)
My problem is that I can't seem to get the gears smooth and quiet when reeling.  I have tried new bearings, three different greases, no grease and just oil.

What am I missing??

Thanks in advance.

Jeff I have found the higher the gear ratio the more noisy they are if they are a couple of years old. I think its just how it is.

Thank You Handi2,

I was about ready to pull my hair out!!  I can make the Abu's, Shimano's and Lew's slick as a button but these Daiwa's are killing me!

As the gears wear on the Diawas they start to make a grinding noise, but still work adequately for a long time.
If this is what is causing the problem then your reels have done a lot of work, much more then most people would ever subject a reel to over its lifetime.
