Does anyone have any experience in stripping down aluminum Newell bars?

There are a lot of used Newell bars on the market with imperfect finishes.  I thought of stripping down some to the aluminum and polishing them.  I believe the black finish is powder-coating.  There were some partially stripped ones for sale on ebay that appeared to have been sandblasted, showing signed of a red undercoat (maybe red lead).

I have little experience in this area, but I'm encouraged by what I have seen others do with Penn Spinfishers.  Seems wise to ask if others have experience before taking this on.  Thanks in advance.

Hmm . . . I'm curious to see how this turns out.

I had never thought of stripping and polishing Newell crossabrs, but it does sound interesting !

They're anodized aluminum. I did one 4 hole handle that was beat up pretty bad. Came out ok but a ton of sanding and polishing, I wouldn't do it again.
Do what you can with that you have where you are
