I know this is a revisit to a tutorial but just found myself the proud owner  of (4) 40 GLS (year unknown) they came as a package deal when I picked up 4 older Seeker rods SL 660H RT/SB.  I don't know if the guy did me a favor or passed me a project.

These are my first lever drags and since they are free to experiment with I figure why not tear into them on a rainy day.

--- My question is why did you change the orientation of the 4 clutch springs (bellevilles) that part is not clear to me.  What is end goal

Also, is there a way to know if they are first runs or 2nd gen after factory modification/fix?
