Shimano Bantam Mag 50 SG

I bought an xlnt condition Bantam Mag 50 SG, recently...I just finished cleaning it completely...seriously over lubricated..probably disposed of a tablespoon of grease...at any rate...after reassembling the reel, what I thought was correctly, I can't get the spool to engage by turning the handle...I took it apart again, tried  reversing the position of the anti reverse dog, since it sounded as though it was clicking on the anti reverse ratchet...same result no spool engagement..any suggestions? Thank You

usually it's a bent or otherwise damaged kick lever.  also sometimes a sprocket gear that is upside down.
