Cleaning Up After Service

After servicing my reels I have some residual grease on
the frame and spool.
I've seen alcohol water from a spray bottle used to finish up
and clean this off before. Is this wise?
What do you all use if anything. I'm concerned about the spool
being cleaned before putting lined on. -gary

Hi Gary,

I just take a clean rag and rub, rub, and rub.  This way, a micron layer of protectant is still on the reels' surface.  If you choose to clean the spool with alcohol, you may want to polish the spool with pure carnuba wax.  That stuff puts on a very hard coating to protect the surface.

At least this is what I do.

i use wd40 and lot's of paper towels,just because i use alot of grease lol. it works great and the customer likes the shine that wasnt there when he dropped them off. just a tip i use blue painter's tape and tape the line to prevent me from getting grease all over it.

This may be a little off the subject of cleaning, but I had and old reel that lost it finish and I tried WOODY WAX on it and it stayed nice a long time.
