I didnt pay that much but it was expensive! If you ever use one, right or left, you will like it.

The jigging action is so much more normal and fluid with the shorter rods.

I like the concept. This would make spiral rods unnecessary as you'd get the same benefit - no torque to twist the rod during a fight.

You'd have all the downsides of a spinning reel since you're using a spinning rod.  No laying the rod on the rail to crank.  You can still use the rail with an Acid wrapped rod!

No line twist, or reel flex issues here though.

Why no reel flex?  It has the same style reel foot as a spinner.  It's a funky $900 pseudo spinner in a baitcaster format.  For that kind of money just get a Stella and call it good.

No rotor to flex under huge drag pressure is a factor.

Depending who you ask, the jigging motion (for mechanical jigging, not yo-yo) is better with a under-the-rod setup.
Using the rail isn't really a thing with these rods/reels even when they're overhead. The gearing is too high to winch the fish in, you have to pump and wind. Presumably this is why nobody on a long-range is doing any mechanical jigging, despite the fact that it's ludicrously effective against Kingfish (yellowtail).

If you want a lever drag with under-the-rod style fishing these are your only option.

Pony Liu isn't exactly a newbie to jigging, if they went to the trouble of developing and tooling these reels there is probably something good to be found here.

I meant no rotor to flex under pressure.

Wow, One crazy looking reel and I guess for a few applications it would be great. I usually wait for a few years with new stuff to see how it pans out. Who knows, could be the reel of the future. I suppose you could spiral the guides up on the rod and use it on the rail
Do what you can with that you have where you are
