Here is a clip from a couple years ago,  ya thats less exciting than you expect from me butt?   Deano injured his sholder and the following year hurt his back.  He was my netman and still loves to fish but has been laid up.   I enkoyed being on my boat this day and relived a little fun we had.  Presently out king salmon season is closed in our nearby area.  So I may have to travel to the outer areas by the gulf that remains open,  Butt its killing me waiting for my friends to heal.  Ive lost 5 out of 5 people.  Butt things may change as spring appears?

These are great eating fish.  Bbq or smoked! :)

Gary, your killing me!
I just came in from the garage. I'm trying to take my mind off fishing, while waiting for the upcoming salmon season to start.
With blue grease on me as I watch this I think I'll need to go back out and pull a few more reels apart, cleaning the innards and regreasing the CF drags
as I pass the time.
Nice fish. Wish I were eating fresh salmon right now, but refuse to eat farmed. Them's fight'n words.
I may need to pull out my last package of smoked from the freezer after this.  :D
When does your Salmon season open in Gustavus?
Can you fish for all types, or a separate season for each species and limits?

Tight lines.

Thanks for the kind words and questions.  As we go through time we think 🤔 we have some control of what we can do,.   In the past the regulations may change, and prices may increase,  butt now it seems like most of my friends are not doing well and never thought it would keep me from fishing 🎣.
I've worked at salmon hatcherys for many years, I prefer the wild salmon to eat.  But I understand that you can farm them and feed the masses.
We have king salmon year around wandering around cause that's what they do here year around.  When they migrate to the river of their origin they migrate as maturity prompts them.   We are lucky somewhat.

Butt as these are wild not hatcherys fish,  they need to be protected more as their value is much higher.

It's partly my fault, as I had smocked salmon spread to day on some crackers.

In trying to answer your question better ,  here's more verbose.  We have king salmon feeders around here and they usually spawn after 4-5+ years in their stream of origin.  We don't have any rivers close by so they migrate towards their home and we try to find one trolling  in the winter and spring locally, that is what we do.
Coho (silver) salmon return in from the Pacific Ocean every 2-3+ years in the fall generally about July to September where we live.  These are 6-20 pounds size and usually quite abundant.
Pink ( humpy) salmon are even smaller (3-10) pounds and return in June-August, and usually spawn in small streams every other year and generally quite abundant.  Almost a nuisance if targeting coho, as they arrive first of the year, they are welcome at first!  Can be great fighting fish 🎣 as practice makes perfect.
We have a small run of coho and a better run of pinks in our only little river locally.  So I,m interested in that for entertainment as they can be feisty and selective and fight well for their size.
We troll generally for the for salmon  with herring or fly's, lures.  And use spin reels and spinner lures or spoons in the streams,   Hope this helps.  Have fun fishing 🎣 and just go!🤗
