I am currently working on a 450ss and the customer was worried about how the reel wobbled when reeling it in. I have taken the reel completely apart, cleaned, and inspected all parts. Besides some very mild wear nothing stands out. When the reel is complete there is a slight wobble with the bail housing. I took it all back apart and noticed a slight wobble from the pinion and pinion bearing. It does look like someone has been into the reel before but according to the schematic all parts are there. I am at a loss to figure out the issue even played with the aluminum and steel bolts for bail arms trading them around trying to balance. Any help woul be very appreciated. Thank you.

It is usually the pinion. The spool shaft is stainless steel and the pinion is brass on these, it will eventually wear it down a bit and that's when you'll notice the wobble.

Here is the part # in case you need it:

If that doesn't help, try this part, or order both. These are only a couple of dollars:

Good luck!

Forget about all the reasons why something may not work. You only need to find one good reason why it will.

Thank you very much. Looked into it and it did have a good amount of play in it. Will let the customer know.
