Penn 9's - Noticed Different Versions

I am just fooling around, getting my gear ready for the new season.  Trying my hand at building Rods, cleaning up the Reels, updating some old wooden Poppers, etc.

In looking at my Penn 9 armada, I just noticed that it appears they redesigned the (even though both are made in USA) 9's.

One has the make/model in script and has a Spare Pawl screw/holder, and rounded contours to the drag stack housing.

The other, I presume newer, has the M/M in block font, no spare pawl, less detail on the drag housing, and a few other detail differences.

What is the year(s) of the changes?
