Well I enjoyed your post a good bit, my eyes usually glaze over when reading of reel breakdowns.  But you had me reading every word, so well done.
I woke today and suddenly nothing happened.

Bill, the owners father recently passed away, and he never did ask how the spool cheeks came to be warped. Not sure if the cuttyhunk line would expand/contract much with water content or stretch.

Will certainly try and get some photos to add with the reel mounted on its restored rod.

It doesn't have much stretch.  It needs to be dried after use to prevent it from rotting.
