OK here's a new one for me anyways... Two of the same models have the same problem with line counters.  They both seem to be calibrated improperly.  When you peel of a yard of line off the reel it says that its like 6 yards,  same tie the retrieve.  These are the first new Tekota's I have worked on.  Just wondering if anyone has seen this with others.  Is the simple fix just ordering new line counters?

Not a line counter reel guy, but some thoughts come to mind:

Aren't these gear driven?   Gear ratios are not going to change.  Calibration mechanisms are a bit tricky, so It seems unlikely that  they put these in LC reels.

Maybe the unit of measurement is feet and  not yards?   BTW, if the counter is not  measuring by the the line turning the gear wheel, but  rather by spool revolutions,  the designers will have chosen a spool fill level where the counter will be accurate, probably near full.  Cut the diameter in half, and only half as much line will come out per revolution.
