Got plenty, Steve —

No issues.

Won't be back until late this week, or early next week.

We have been out exploring the Southwest around Western New Mexico, Eastern Arizona, and Southern Utah.

All on Navajo Nation land — Chaco Canyon, Monument Valley, Shiprock area, Canyon DeChelly.

Not sure how the weather will affect our return trip.  The storm that hit California yesterday and today — is on its way here — and we are going right into it.  Might slow us down some — but that is OK.  We have everything we could possibly need.  Tonight was Rib-Eye steak BBQ'd by yours truly, corn made by Sue, Navajo Fry-Bread, homemade lemon muffins, and See's candy.

Let me know how many kits you want (one, or more) and I will send them out when we return.

We are 812 miles from home right now.  Been gone for almost a week.

Wind steady at 20 MPH currently with gusts to possibly 30.

Wind is supposed to let up after it starts raining over nite — if not, we will just stay put until it does.  Plenty of books, DVD's, food, and a Queen size bed with all,of the amenities.

Fred, Looks like a fine getaway...nice pics!  Have a safe trip home.
Please set aside a 704 kit for me, and a drag knob if you have one.  Epoxy is holding mine together.  Not sure for how long, though.
I'll PM a DQ parts list in a week or so, I need some for 110, 330, and maybe for a 550 I'm waiting to have delivered.

Again, safe travels.

Yeah, nice pictures. I love me some high-desert. Hope you can post more. Even if one didn't like a desert environment, you can't beat it for "getting away from it all".
Fishing tackle is an art form and all fish caught on the right tackle are"Gfish"!

Should have all you need and will send out when returning — just send me a list, Steve —

After "boon-docking" and being self-contained out in the New Mexico Navajo Nation close to Chaco Canyon, for a few days — we drove up to Utah to see Monument Valley.  We stayed at a very nice campground with all hookups, showers, services, quiet, and nearly empty this time of year.  Wind came in last night at over 40 MPH.  Then heavy rain around 3:00 AM.  By daybreak it went through. So today has been an easy day of heading home — crosswinds of around 18 to 20 MPH — but no issues for the truck & trailer.  We have a full equalizer hitch set-up with a stabilizer and trailer brakes.

Just pulled off into the Kaibab National Forest just West of Williams, Arizona.  Got the Honda generator and heater going.  Sue is heating up some Chicken Breast Taco Casserole in the Microwave.  We are about a mile off the interstate, in some trees — pretty spoiled, really.  Just getting dark, and slid the clip into the 9MM.

Fred, that sounds like it's right out of a suspense novel.   ;D

What brand of nine, Fred? (Please don't say something that rhymes with "schlock")...  :P  ::)  :D

My bullets are 9mm in diameter, but the cartridges have a rim and a LOT more powder. There's also very few guns with magazines that can shoot it and none that can handle the 180 WFN hard cast I shoot.

Rifles have manually operated bolts, handguns have cylinders and conventional reels have stars!

To each their own.

Beautiful photos Fred. I've never been lucky enough to see that area of our country.
Thank You for sharing your experience.
If you will, please send me a couple of your rebuild kits and a drag knob if possible.
No hurry. I'm in about my 100th day of working outages and don't expect to be doing any reel work until December. I did get a much needed 10 day vacation recently at St Simons Island Georgia.
It was awesome.

Thank You
-Steve

Just a little Hi Point Model C — steel slide, polymer frame, in 9MM, Lannie —

Also have a similar one in .380.

I have had Glocks — but never was comfortable with the trigger safety.

I only have a few hand guns these days — half revolvers, half semi-autos.  While this is not an expensive weapon, it serves my purpose when camping with Sue out in the boondocks.  Never carry a round in the chamber — and it just takes half a second to cycle the slide.  It is not for animals — just our protection and way of feeling safer when out in a remote or possibly a threatening area.

Just a "response-ability".

That was a very reasonable request Nelz. The rest of the world could learn something from you.

Can we keep guns talk in the guns section.

I am sorry that this side-bar post regarding my personal choice for protection for my wife and myself while remote camping — made you uncomfortable, uneasy, or offended.

I should not have even mentioned it, Nelz — sometimes I try to explain too much.  My fault.

Your point is understandable —

If you or the original poster wish — I  could take out the remarks regarding firearms.

Your call — we don't want anyone being uncomfortable or fearful when reading posts about fishing reels.

This was my fault for even mentioning how I choose to protect my family when in a remote wilderness location.

Sometimes (most times) I should keep my opinions and family protection measures to myself.

I apologize.

Best,

Fred, thanks for the apology, but really wasn't necessary, I understand how things can get side-tracked unintentionally. But yes, running into a guns discussion when I was just was looking to learn about a fishing reel was disturbing for reasons I won't go into in a public setting.

I'll leave it up to you to decide what to do with the posts.
