James, I responded to your IM. Suggestion: Find one of your existing old rods or even better a flea market / pawn shop rod you like the action of, we'll talk you thru stripping it down, and practice on it start to finish before you go at your prime materials we are discussing. That way you'll have cheap, very good knowledge about wrap technique that works for you, finish etc., in-hand and not be learning on the fly with your new build. I have plenty of thread and some other things for you to practice with. I'll shoot you a care package when you are ready.
