Torque star versa gear question

I bought a torque 40 star (new old stock) with the intention of replacing the stock 6:1 gear set with the optional 4.8:1 gear set. Upon receiving the reel, I noticed the outside of the box indicates that the reel has a 4.8:1 gear ratio. Strange. The inner flap--as well as all marketing material--indicate that "the reel comes standard with a 6:1 ratio". Thought the outer box had a typo, so went ahead and cracked open the reel and it does indeed have the 4.8 gear set. The tooth count matches those from the set I bought from Mystic. Can't find the Penn email; only have phone numbers and contact forms.

Am I just unaware that they came with different ratios from the factory?

That's a good question. My Torque 12 came stock 6:1. I bought 2 more new gears but can't remember what they are.
