Yellowtail will punish you.

Pound for pound they may be the strongest fish I've ever caught...and lost.

Just my 2 pennies, YT will stop you in your tracks, like hitting a brick wall, then keep digging for the bottom.  Once you turn their heads they come up to the boat fairly easily.  When they see the boat they will start digging again. YFT (schooling size) will hit you and immediately start pulling drag on the initial run.  Once boat side begin to circle and the fight is over.  Never caught a cow size tuna so YMMV.  Bill

Thread Hijack     Dominick - you have THE TANK.  And have never bagged a yellowtail on it?!?  It is the original "Yellowtail Special"....

It seems like, all my trips to los cabos are at the wrong time of the year.  i am stopping taking the Tank down there unless i check in a bag.  I had a big fight trying to get it on in a carry on.  Mexico does not allow it, though TSA does.  Dominick
