It was 5:30 in the morning.  Most of the guys were still asleep.  The skipper came into the galley and said they hooked up. I dashed outside.  When I grabbed the rod, I looked at the spool. I load makaira 50's with braid all the time. I was guessing that the deckhand had 250 yards out when I grabbed the rod. I eased the lever forward,  nice and slow, and started winding back, I had to bump the drag two more times to finally stop him. He never took an inch after that.  It was a 25 minute fight, mostly just to drag him back to the boat. The bow bounces more than the stern. It was alot of help. The boat did all of the heavy lifting.  It taped out at 203. This one took 40 pounds of drag. It took a while longer, but it was still an easy fight.

Living vicariously through Alan Tani.  Love it.  Dominick
Leave the gun.  Take the cannolis.

There are two things I don't like about fishing.  Getting up early in the morning and boats.  The rest of it is fun.

It may not be very productive,
but it's sure going to be interesting!
