Our Conga Eels don't look anything like the one in the picture. This looks more like our Silver Eel which can be eaten. They make good Tile Fish bait cut in chunks.

Our Conga Eel is the biggest 3' long, Brown to blend with the bottom & can crush Crabs & Shell Fish. It eats anything in it's face.

They go to over 100lbs in the UK.
The belly is white but the topside of the eel is dark grey to brown or almost black depending on the ground they live on.
They have extremely strong jaws are very strong & are quite predatory.
We normally fish fish baits for them on the bottom.
They live in structures, wrecks, holes in rough ground etc.
"Conger is a genus of marine congrid eels.[2] It includes some of the largest types of eels, ranging up to 3 m (10 ft) in length, in the case of the European conger. Large congers have often been observed by divers during the day in parts of the Mediterranean Sea, and both European and American congers are sometimes caught by fishermen along the European and North American coasts."

Nice, I looked on their site last year at their 2320 as I am looking for something bigger & foreign boats seem to be rated to much higher hps than UK boats which seem to be very conservatively rated.
