the site i found that had info on the SW model was hard to interpret for braid capacity & other numbers;
how would either of these work for moderate GOM tuna (usually 10-20 lbs.) chunking Halcos & other baits?

are the SW parts interchangeable with MQ parts?

thanks in advance

Hi Hank,
I've fished the 8000MQ for a lot of tuna in the 20-30lb range and it handled them all without missing a beat.
I started breaking off once the yellowfin got over 100lbs, but that's more to do with the PE3 than the reel.
In fairness, I set the reel up for sailfish and had 400m of braid on it. Probably should've upgraded to 300m of PE5 before chasing yellowfin.
I believe the MQ has slightly bigger gears than the SW, so at least those won't be interchangable.
The monocoque (MQ) body is a big advantage over the standard BG (I have both).
Hope that's of some assistance.
Let us know what you decide.
Cheers, Justin
