where to buy & what size magnets do i need? saw pic. on another forum that showed them on
side opposite brake attached to washer; just got this out & tried a few practice casts
with 3 oz & had some backlash at end of cast (when weight hit ground?)
adjusted cast control (on right side) to just allow minimum freespool with the weight; brakes on.

rod is 7' Ugly Stick Tiger rated 1-6 oz lure Med action; not the best rod i know, but
want to make this one work as it's for fishing off pier w/cut bait.

once i get this dialed in, may get a longer rod & use it for surf fishing; here's with the
new handle; running 25 lb. mono & will use various fluro leaders.

as always, thanks in advance.

Even with magnets perfectly dialed in you need to put your thumb on the spool when the bait hits the water.

From info that my mate gave me, the N52 rating, is quite  strong, they are also 5x2 mm, not sure were you want to purchase them from, but he gets his Via allele barba, cheers Don.

Can I oversimplify? Get some neodymium magnets. Glue one imon the inside face of the tail plate in a spot where it doesn't get in the way of the clicker. Go cast. If it isn't improved enough glue another one. I'm usually pretty happy with one magnet.

I've also made/machined custom knobby mags and posted all about it. We can absolutely go super deep down this rabbit hole.  But for once in my life I'm gonna suggest starting simple.
