Three Unknown Spools

These three spools are free and up for grabs.  I know nothing about them nor what they might fit.

Pretty sure they are spincast reel spools.  The big one looks familiar, but I can't place it.  Maybe a Johnson? What d'ya need for them?

One spool looks like it says "Made in West Germany"  If so, that not only tells you "where", but narrows down the "when" somewhat too.

On those spools that jtwill had, the one marked "Made in West Germany" looks like it could be a DAM Quick item.  Previously unknown to me, DQ evidently made and sold a series of reels in the late '50s - late '60s denominated as "Automatic" models.  These, or at least some of them, look like closed face spinning reels, having a trigger mechanism and fished under the rod.  Called "Kapselrollen" reels in German, which I gather means "encased spool", or something similar, in English.  A few were made for North American retailers Herter's and Canadian Tire, and rebadged for their sales.  The Automatic 267 model appears to have had a spool very similar to the one jtwill pictured.  The Automatic 268 spool is different, and some of the other models may have had different spools too.   Not a whole lot of info available to me on these reels, and I don't know if they were a hit or not with anglers.  Someone (like foakes) might know a lot more. Interesting in any case.

Frank is correct.

These were an automatic closed face spin reel.

Some had a trigger mechanism, and although the plastic enclosure looked cheap(IMO) —- like most of the DQ products, they were a quality reel.

1958 to 1973, (10) models plus those rebranded as trade reels.

Never took off too much here in North America.

I have a few odd parts for them —- but have never worked on one since they were not mainstream popular and parts are unobtainable in any case.

Zebco, Johnson, as well as many other companies that are now gone —- dominated this market here in North America.

I guess the Automatic Models 290 and 263 were more like conventional spincast reels (push button; fished on top of rod). Not much info anywhere on the trade reels or the Models 259 or 261.  The 290, and maybe others, had a metal front bell (cap/cover); like Fred said, others had a plastic front.
