Hello,

When I turn the handle on my Stradic 4000 XG there's a definite bump every time the rotor goes around.

If I remove the spool and do the same test it returns to feeling smooth.

Attached is a pic of the (edit) drag click ratchet and bushing which I think is causing the issue.

There's a ratchet spring whose arm seems to fit into a cavity in the ratchet. This may be malfunctioning as I can see some wear outside the cavity in the space between the ratchet and bushing. I've tried seating the spring further up and down in the bushing but the issue persists.

Has anyone else encountered this before? I can post more pics if needed.

Thanks!

That's not your anti reverse ratchet it's a drag clicker. My suspicion would be that the bail trip lever rubs on the bottom of the rotor. But that's just a guess.

Something is awry here. None of those parts rotate when the rotor turns. The only movement there is the oscillation of the spool shaft.

I think you may be right, the plastic isn't seated flush to the frame. I aso took the rotor off and the feeling also seemed to disappear when turning the handle.

I might try filing the bail trip strike top edge back a little. It's the same wear that using it would probably incur.

I just take them off every reel I can. I flip my bail manually.

Filing it down didn't completely resolve it as there was still about 6 bumps per turn of the handle.  So I stripped the entire reel and cleaned all the working parts in hot soapy water and re greased. Not sure what the problem was but it's running very smooth now.
