Can anyone on here please help me figure out how to remove the black disk with the little springs in it from the gear shift shaft so I can finish taking the rest of the reel apart.

Any help is greatly appreciated.

You have to twist 90 degrees and then pull up.

Thanks Tony, I have been trying that for a few minutes now and isn't working.  It almost looks like I need to remove the two little springs in it but not sure if I should do that as they may be a little difficult to reinstall them.

haven't worked on one of these in ages.  it should just twist and then lift straight up.
send me an email at alantani@yahoo.com for questions!

I had to tilt the black plastic part and get behind it with a pic and push the locks out of the grove and it came right off.  Was able to disassemble everything all the way round the cam to service it as well.... All is good but this particular reel has massive drag increases with very small drag lever adjustments.  Going to look at that next.

Thanks!!
