So, I'm getting to put line on my Tanacom 800 electric reel and keep going back and forth on what pound test to buy.

65 or 80 test is what I'm debating.

This reel will spend 97% of its life as a deep drop fisher and the other 3% "maybe" as a kite reel.

What would you suggest, or would you go 100#?

Thanks,

Steve
Buy it nice or buy it twice.

Keta

I put 65# on my Tanacom Bull 750 because I use it exclusively for deep fishing and it cuts the water far better than 80#.

I have all of the answers, yup, no, maybe.

Same as Keta. I put 65 on my 1000 as it has less blow back. My deepest fish was caught at over 1300 feet. There is a thread if you search.

Hum...I did search this tread under "Tanacom & Tanacom Line", and nothing popped up.

The thread is fishing over 1000 feet.

I put 30# on my Tanacom 500 to see if it cuts the water better.  It might be a mistake if a big halibut gets hooked though.
