Hi,

I am looking for the following Shakespeare reel parts / spares:

(1) For a Shakespeare Sigma 2200 - 070 reel: I have lost the solid-plastic button insert with the Sigma / 'Σ' logo on it from this reel's drag knob. Can anyone help me obtain it please? (The 'button' just pushes firmly into place in the centre of the drag knob.);

(2) I also have a Shakespeare 2201-080B Whisker Titan reel, with a broad, light-grey, Teflon lip on the spool to reduce friction in casting. I foolishly never got around to buying spare spools for this reel. However, try as I might, I cannot now find a source of its spools. It seems a fair range of Shakespeare spare spools are to be found on the internet, but one for the 2201-080B remains utterly elusive — to me at least. I really would in fact like two spare spools for this reel: one for 6kg braid, and one for 25kg, so I'm interested in up to two if anyone can supply them to me please.

Thanks.

Welcome aboard!

In the meantime, you might introduce and tell us a little about yourself and your types of fishing.

Too late tonight, but tomorrow I'll be glad to look through a couple of crates of Sigma reels, and another of spools.

Hi Fred,

Have you had any luck tracking down the Shakespeare Sigma parts I'm trying to find? In particular, the spare spool for the Sigma 2201 Whisper Titan 080B is fairly urgent as I cannot find one anywhere, worldwide.

If it finally turns out I can't get the spare, while I'll continue to use the Whisper Titan 080B with 9kg braid on its only spool, I'm thinking of buying a Shimano Baitrunner 1200 OC and getting a spare spool with it. This will -- finally -- allow me to load one spool with 6 or 9kg braid for snapper fishing in New Zealand (where the bait-runner feature is very useful), and the second with 20kg / 50lb braid for angling for kingfish and big moki. (The baitrunner should be useful with the moki, too, as fishing unweighted mussels from the rocks is very attractive to them but they often spit out the mussel bait if they can't easily run with it at first.) Do you have any views on the Shimano Baitrunner 1200 OC reel? In terms of value for money (not least reflected, I might add, in the relative price of its spare spools compared to other large-size Shimano baitrunner reels) it seems to me to be a good choice of a well made reel that, if looked after, should be a good purchase. The 1200 OC with 20kg / 50lb braid should also handle kingfish of up to 20kg weight provided the drag is set correctly and the fish is played with patience. But anyway, what do you think of the 1200 OC reel?

Cheers,

Gerald

Hi Gerald —-

Pulled out the crates and looked.  Didn't find the exact model you requested.  Emailed you, and now it is over a month later.

So I guess not, sorry.

Those bait runners are nice until you need to fix it. A lot of parts to deal with
Do what you can with that you have where you are
