Do any Penn drag stars fit on a Newell 220 sleeve? Looks like a jigmaster star might fit, but I don't wanna strip it testing it.

Good question, never tried it. Pretty sure a regular jigmaster has the wrong threads but maybe a505/506?
Do what you can with that you have where you are

If you have a decent tap and die set there should be a pitch gauge to check the threads per inch

It is worth checking the Alan Tani site.  Like this:

The Jigmaster has a really unusual shaft diameter.  When I was making drag stars, I had a hard time finding the taps, especially for the fine thread version.

No idea what the Newell thread size is.

Sounds like the 505 star fits. I did try to search but apparently I suck at it.

I have my hesitations about a plastic star after the one on my Baja broke. Was unsure about an aftermarket aluminum star on my recently added steel sleeve. But reading further it seems the PC aftermarket star has a SS insert.

I have a few 505 stars. I'll start there.

Loosely related, The handle arm from a torium is only 1/64th too small for the Newell on the long direction. And I have a few in the bin. A bit of filing, and a lot of grease, and I've got a longer handle arm. You just have to remove the e-clip to remove it. But that doesn't bother me. I kind of hate how that round hole on the handle attachment limits contact area anyway. Don't know for sure it's an issue. But I don't like it.

Added an aluminum spool. Gonna add a magnet soon. Yeah, it's got those fins. But I'll be putting it as close as I can to the spool lip, so I doubt it will matter. We'll find out soon enough.

If you want to try it, I don't think that you will damage the star or gear sleeve if you don't force it.

If you want to find out by size, the Jigmaster sleeve has 13/32 thread diameter. If you measure the sleeve diameter, you will see .404 in.  The Newell won't be larger than .406 (a bit less on the threaded portion) and still be the same thread diameter.

If I remember correctly, the fine threaded sleeve/star is 32TPI.  It is pretty easy to set your digital caliper to 1/2 ", lay it next to a sleeve, take a photo, zoom in and count threads on each.

I looked around for my Jigmaster sized taps, but didn't find them in the mess that is my garage.  [Update: found the fine thread tap- 13/32-32TPI]

Let us know what you find out.
