Not sure what material is it .I used cork ,wood ,high density form ,if it is same material as form use for rod handle sure we can use it ,just odd color .May look good for kid rods

I've seen some pretty creative stuff using that foam. Mix the colors, cut the pieces at different angles, glue it up and turn on a lathe.   Give it a try Jason, add some style to your handles

For the past 3 years we've been getting rid of "clutter" out the house and Garage.   Most of it has just gone to charities, It is very difficult to sell used goods here.

Even some rods and reels were given away!

I am a "horder", my wife is far worse.  I replaced 10' of drain pipe, like it the toilet drain, and put it in the trash, she wanted to save it in case we had a future use for it.  It comes from my cancer at 49 then being crushed 5 years later and zero income for 8 years.  We do not waste things and a lot of our "trash" gets recycled or sold to the scrap dealer
A few months ago our 30 year old dishwasher quit and no parts were available.  I sent 3 hours breaking it down, separating steel and copper. The plastic went to the landfill, the copper into my copper hord and the steel to the scrap dealer.  The scrap dealer is 1/2 mile away, I burnt $2.50 in diesel and got $4.78 for the steel.   The metal gets re-used and I "made' about $0.35 an hour.  I do however have about 100# of copper, 75# of stainless and well over 100# of scrap aluminum I need to sell.

I turn pens and other items on my lathe and will make Cigar plugs if I ever source a lead head dealer.

Never heard of turning foam though, it must be very dense. What size of a mandrel does it take?

I've only done it on my rod lathe after the material is glued onto the rod blank. Pretty basic, 100 grit sand paper on a sanding block and mash the pedal

I have stored all types of garage and hardware stuff, from screws and bolts, plumbing parts, tools you name it for the past 50 years.   I have many a time been able to say to the wife I repaired so and so with items I had in stock in the garage for the past 40 years.    Cost me nothing now!

I tripped over a Mercury trim and tilt pump for 30 years untill I overheard 2 production employees bitching about how much one was going to have to pay for a hard to find and used 40 year old part.  The boat owner was very happy when I gave it to him the next day and tried to pay me.  I was glad it was gone and being used and refused the $.

I try to recycle 100% of the metals I "aquire" no matter what it cost me.  Puting metal in the land fill should be a crime.  Last month our dishwasher quit. I striped it down, 2 hours, and salvaged a fan, put a bit of SS in my nickel alloy bin and took the steel to the scrap dealer.  I got $2.80 for the scrap and burnt $3.00 in fuel for he 1.5 mile round trip drive.... No brain no pain I guess.  I have a lot of copper, brass, aluminum and nickel bearing scrap I need to sell but the local scrap yard is making more off it than I will.  I also have about 100# of circuit boards that have gold and other precious metals in them.  Next time I need to go to Salem I will haul it and get a better price.
