p220-f incredibly stuck

hello everyone!
i am servicing a buddys newells. beautiful reels, i want some now.

his p220f is STUCK! included are images of the assembly. i cleaned it up real good thinking it was just gunked shut but the issue still persisted.

pinion gear was dislodged, whole assessmbly visibly messed up, can be seen thru the bearing cap.


with all the reels ive worked on idk why im so stumped on one of the best and clear assemblies...

main problem is the whole thing is frozen, handle won't move spool won't move, either in free or in gear. i think i have the assembly right?

freespool is beautiful when the drag isn't slapped on .

this is stressing me x_x

Were there any shims in the handle side bearing cap ? If I remember correctly there are usually 2 start by screwing down the handle side cap and backing off the clicker side to get some freeplay ?

no, I did not see one under the bearing cap
it feels that the problem is from the drag gear not sitting right with the pinion gear or someissue with the pinion.

well, for starters, the dog is upside down, but that's a separate issue.  first guess is that the drag stack is too tall.

cool, playing around with it more this morning, it's definitely an issue with the drag / crank gear turning the pinion gear versus the pinion turning the spool. now how tf do i fix it

yes, it is upside down x_x
drag stack does look tall ill remove sm and give it a shot tonight.

managed to get her working ^^ little shift here and there
cleaned up the bearings, freespool about 40s. the c332/5 still a little slow 20s freespool but the bearings are icky.

my boy said no bearing upgrade
