OMG, I can't imagine how this guy must have felt! Here I go again posting about people almost being swallowed by water creatures.  ;D

Two women watching whales in plastic Kayaks were mouthed by a Humpback a few days ago in San Luis Obispo Bay.  They were only in its mouth for a few seconds.  They should have had a clue when surrounded by the bubble curtain and a bait ball surfaced around them.  A bait ball is attracted to a boat for protection when they are about to be eaten.

A human can't actually be swallowed by a Humpback because their throat is only a few inches in diameter.  They swallow the baitfish and spit out the people and other trash.

NMFS regulations require whale watchers to stay at least 100 yards away.  In Hawaii, they enforce it too, especially around Lahina.

While somewhat loosely related, when are people going to realize they need to respect predatory animals territories.

I read two other articles this morning.

One where a woman had her hand bit off by a shark as she attempted to get closer for a photo.

A second story of a woman on Safari in Africa where the woman approached a hippo for a picture.  It came out of the water and chomped down on her head killing here. Now the husband wants to sue the travel agency that helped arrange the tour.

With all these reported incidents and videos on the web, one would think people would learn not to intrude on the animal's space, especially predatory animals.

Heck even a small animal like a racoon or rat will attack humans if backed in a corner!

Is your life or bodily harm worth the photo.

The things I saw people do for a picture on my brief stay in Yellowstone makes me wonder how we're the dominant species on this planet.

The whole point of the pic is to show off how close they're willing to get to danger.

Well, there's a reason others around you aren't doing it. There's a lot of animals that are really cute 50' away that aren't nearly as cute 5' away. As they charge.

while whale watching in Baja  ::)  ::)  ^-^

this happens every year on the cold months in Baja, in Guerrero Negro, just infront of Cedros Islands, those grey whales seem to like human contact because they swim directly to the pangas and stop to keep steady for a lot of seconds.

just google "guerrero Negro, whale watching, Baja" and book your trip

I havent taken that adventure yet, but had seen a whale shark 5" while my daughter was swimming with the whale shark  https://alantani.com/index.php/topic,37451.0.html

Them Humpies seem to be getting more curious as time goes on. Then again, I think they must be able to see boats and kayaks on the surface pretty well, so maybe most physical interaction is accidental when they're distracted.
Not many here this year. Saw 6 yesterday. I'm good with just being close enough to hear that "whoooosh!"when they hit the surface.
Fishing tackle is an art form and all fish caught on the right tackle are"Gfish"!

I had one roll near my canoe in about 60 feet of water once and have been scared to death of them ever since.  I won't even go outside the reef anymore.
