I have a Quantum CSP40PTSE in the shop. Bail won't trip.  Looked at the information on the website and cleaned up the magnet side of the bail.  Found the U shaped plastic cover and positioned it correctly.  Lubed it as well. Then checked bail tension to make sure there is no outward pressure on the bail as sometimes happens on spinners.  It was fine and did not need any alignment.  The bail does not seem to require excessive force to get it to trip.  Yet the trip lever sticks when it hits the trip point which is a small screw, screwed into the body. So the drum spins and when the bail is locked up the trip lever extends out will contact the screw.

My question is, is that trip lever designed to slide up and over the top of that screw in order to trip it?  It appears that way.  Thinking the screw may be marred and need to be dressed on it's top to allow the trip lever to slide over it. But before I go messing with it thought I'd ask and see if my understanding of the trip mechanism is correct.  Thanks.  Steve

I believe  you are correct : that trip lever designed to slide up and over the top of that screw in order to trip it?

The schematic I looked at did not even show that screw.  But, I called A Quantum service center and they were very helpful.  Talked to one of their techs.  He pulled up a schematic and found that the screw we are talking about is met to screw on a ramp, which is missing.  So the bail trip lever slides up that ramp and trips the bail.

He did say there are two iterations of these reels and I may have gotten the wrong schematic, otherwise I would have been able to spot that missing ramp right away.  Fortunately for me they had the part and is very cheap.  They are shipping the part to me. So next time I work on a Qauntum reel I'll have to be extra careful on getting the correct schematic.  There apparently are two iterations of the 40 size.  One says Cabo on it the other will say Boca on it but they have the same model number, yet are slightly different designs.  Go figure.  Thanks Steve

If you can post the schematic , or a picture of what you have .   Some reel have a special screw that is the tripper and then some have ramps or wedges to trip the bail .
