Carl Newell family history

Does anyone here have a possible lead on this. It was an email that I just received. I have no idea. I am hoping that someone here might. It's from a guy named Roy B.

Hi!  Good morning.  Is "your" Carl W. Newell related to /descended from a gentleman of the same name that probably worked for the  Packard dealership  in Mexico City around 1910. He, or his son, were probably in the US Army and went to Washington DC.  He also visited Havana around the same time.    When the revolution broke out, it would seem as if he moved to Covington, Kentucky. 


Why do I ask?  I have the remains of a photo album attributed to him that  appeared in a yard sale in El Paso.  It had already been picked over. Most photos are of Mexico City and environs. A few would seem to be -  might be - the Rio Grande, Cuernavaca, Zacatecas and the road to and the caves near Teotihuacan.


I would like to contextualize it as much as possible before turning it over to the Fototeca Nacional in Pachuca.
