I believe we have the same reel. That's a great deal on that spool it's $30 on the bay but the Walmart one only comes in red.
Any machine is a smoke machine if you use it wrong enough.

Yes it's the same spool I ordered. I have a BlackMax3L,Not sure what version BM Jason has.I got my LH reel on Ebay for $37 after shipping.I prefer not having to change hands to reel being RH,I am use to it with spinning reels anyhow .The combo deal sounds good for $50! You could order spool same time for
Free shipping >$35

Glad to see this forum added!  Many of you know I'm big on BFS.  I use it for everything that isn't a king salmon, musky, or sturgeon  ;)

I use my BM3 with 1/16 oz jigs,it is about the lightest I try to cast.I just tried 6lb kast king flouro on it.Seems like this reel if the spool is too loose
Or too much line on it creeps under the spool ??? When I get just the right amount of line on it is great! 8 lb mono never gets under the spool but I lose casting distance. The kast king 8 lb braid is nice on it too, its hard to see even with reading glasses. Tiny!!!

They weren't designed for it.  Keeping thin Spectra line out from under the spool of an old reel is a learned skill and you have to think about it until it becomes second nature.  Mostly, it is just a matter of keeping the line taught at all times.  But, it can occasionally happen in a blacklash too.  It is such a pain in the rear to fix that the subsequent paranoia will help keep you thinking about it.

Yep definitely a pain thankfully there is a quick release for the side cover & not screws. When its dialed in with the right amount of line nothing better  Fun !

Fishing with light line on bait casting reel mono do better job ,I don't get more distance from small dia braid because more line drag from braid to rod guide than mono .
Back in 1982 when I bought daiwa BMF 1000 (first Daiwa using Mag force ) this reel can handle 6 lbs test mono and never have problem with line caught between spool , i match it with Fenwick Eagle ML casting rod and have no problem casting #7 Rapalas or 1/16 oz jig . Early graphite rods don't last so I end up broke many Fenwick Eagle and some expensive HMG
Lately with price of small ball bearings get cheaper I changed all bearings for these reels ,work like new and still my favorite for light duty reel . Later magforce reel they try to cut cost to compete with Shimano and they don't work like older model
