Hi everyone, I am trying to dismantle a 16 S International 11 speed, for the first time, I have the spool out, & I am trying to get into the drag area, with out any luck, I have a pointy object that allows me to rotate the outer area of the plastic, that is rotating very easy, but not threading out of the spool, I have tried to turn it both ways, but I am now only turning it anti clock wize, I am trying to get Mike Currie to post some pictures for me, but he is`nt answering his phone this morning. I have tried to poke a screw driver up for the bottom, & place a light bit of pressure on it, as I rotate it, the black plastic has 3 very small TTees on it, but cant see what they should line up with, I can see a spring down through the top, thanks in advance for any help, cheers Don.

There is a little tab in line with each of the Ts on the drag cover. You have to carefully squeeze in the edge of the cover at each of them to get the tab to pop out of the groove.

Don's photos of his 16S spool - a little late, looks like Boon has already answered Don's question  :)

Mike
It can't be too difficult - a lot of people do it.

Okay I have totally dismantled this reel, & place it back together , but I am finding i am not getting enough free spool, I have the leaver right down to free, also the presser nob, backed right of, so I am getting a heavy free spool, but if I wanted to flick a luer out the back to trawling,I would have to pull line out, by hand, also when I took the 2 speed apart there was a spring down the bottom then the plunger, near the cogs, going by the schematics I have thats not correct, also can anyone tell me what way the plunger should be, it had the most metal forward to the handle end, but going by the schematics, it should be the other way around, can anyone help, cheers Don.

I did place the bevels as Alan suggested, but when I was not getting enough free spool, I moved them back to the factory setting, cheers Don.

stripped it right down again, reworked all the lever area plus the internal area, placed it back together, still hard to get any free spool, I placed the line back onto it from a senator 12/0, so it went on tight, but did`nt have any trouble winding it, still the free spool it hard, by the way as I placed the line back on, I built up the out sides of the spool with a sleight hollow in the middle, & placed the last 60 M or so in the middle, that way, when your fishing, you dont have to thumb it when retreaving, as much, I am thinking about removing one of the bevelles, down to 3 & see if that works, I double checked that all the bearings, are fully and firm in there place, cheers Don.
