these ones are not coming off the lathe but coming in to the shop.

5 fishing rod coming from "La Bocana Baja Sur", some Calstars, Seeker, Terez, etc.
this place is located between Cedros and Loreto, around 3hrs south of Guerrero Negro, its a 8hrs trip from me, many fishermen say its where the good fishing starts, from there you can catch BFT, YF Tuna, wahoo, marling, Dorado, etc.
anyway, a captain from that place sent me 5 fishing rods after he saw my work in his hands, that captain is the owner of the tabl3 danze theme fishind rod I just made few weeks ago  https://alantani.com/index.php/topic,41137.0.html

now he wants to restore/customize those 5 rods  8) , different colors and theme, the 1st one was just for kicks

BUT .. here comes with capital letters BUT, all those rods comes with different guides on each rod, practical onsite repairs -he said, some repair guides were installed using electric black tape, upholstery thread, nail polish (as epoxic), some fishing rods (all) where recoated all over with nail polish  :-[  :-X  :-\
so, it looks like not an easy job but an interesting one cuz my work will be seen in a different zone in few weeks.

already stripped one rod and it was a mess, heat didnt work to made the epoxy softer on the guides because 80% on them had no epoxy but nail polish  ::)  ::)
it was hard as nail  ???  ::)  ::)  :P  and nothing made it softer, my wife saw me suffering LOL and told me to use acetone to disolve the nail polish but I didnt wanted to risk the blank with the acetone, so, stripping the rod while "seeing" forged in fire TV series made it a bit less bad.

Alex, try using a good wood/cabinet scraper instead of heat or solvent or sanding.  An old cured finish will flake off with little clean-up needed afterwards.

thanks for the tip Steve amigo, I have a dull carboard utility knife cutter that I use for cases like this one, I never use heat to clean the excess or sunburned clearcoat from the blank, the 1st I cleaned from those 5 wasnt as bad but still was an slow cleannig / stripping job
