Anyone have any African fishing adventures to share?

I just came back from a short African safari that my wife arranged as a site visit for her travel agency. While speaking with our guide, I learned there is an island in Lake Victoria, north of Tanzania, called Migingo Island. It is the most densely populated island in Africa and the world (check out this video: ). Their entire economy relies on commercial fishing for Nile perch.

And no, I didn't get to visit, but I'm really interested to hear if anyone has any African fishing stories to share!

Additionally, here is a few photos of the "Big 5 (Lion, Elephant, Leopard, Cape Buffalo, White Rhino)" from the 2000 photos taken from our trip. The Rhino photos are not worthy of posting as they were seen from more than 700 yards off, so I added the Hippo, Cheetah and Great Migration photos.

Nice pictures, what a trip. What country did you go to?

I haven't been to Africa but it's on my bucket list. This is a great fishing Youtube channel if you're interested:

To celebrate our 40th anniversary, my wife and I checked another major destination off her bucket list: Tanzania. Our journey began in Arusha, took us through the stunning Ngorongoro Crater, and led us to the village of Seronera in Serengeti National Park. There, we spent three intense but rewarding days on 10-to-12-hour daily game drives in a Toyota Land Cruiser, fully immersed in the wildlife and scenery.

Because my wife works part-time as a travel agent, she hooks us (and sometimes friends) up with great insider perks on Caribbean cruises and European getaways.

Tanzania joins an impressive list of past bucket-list adventures she's roped me into, including an Alaskan Inside Passage cruise followed by a trek to Mt. McKinley, a festive Christmas river cruise from Budapest to Austria, and a freezing but beautiful trip to Yellowknife, Canada, to witness the Northern Lights.

She has already booked our next adventure: a river cruise from Brussels to Holland, as well as a trip to Portugal with her girlfriends. She is a true traveler at heart. In fact, I completely supported her decision to tap into her 401(k) savings so she can go enjoy these bucket-list cities with her travel friends.

Thanks for the link, it's really informative. My bucket list focuses on golfing and fishing, so my son and I are working together to cross those off. I've never been much of a city person—I definitely prefer getting away from the crowds. Budapest and Ireland trips were exceptions because of family and someday I will visit Germany and possibly Wales.

Living the dream, those all sound like amazing trips.

Cool. A good husband, holding down the fort.
My dream is in your first picture. "Woof, woof, woof! Pant, pant, pant. Come, be my wife in the USA, at my age you'll be a well-off, middle-class American widow soon enough and I can better enjoy my final years".
Fishing tackle is an art form and all fish caught on the right tackle are"Gfish"!

We saw plenty of these lovelies in Africa (like the ones in the first photo). You just need to make the trip over there to find them!
