Check out this fishing report:

This is very informative, with plenty of catch pics, water temps, reports from various piers, and the catches make my mouth water. Thorhammer has it good.  What an amazing fishery; as a New Jersey fisherman, I'm envious.   Need to spend more time down there.  Every time I've been, I've had amazing fishing experiences.

Godspeed, tight lines and bloody decks, my friend!

What are the target species?

Red drum, primarily. Depending on water temp, Spanish, blues, black drum, trout, pompano, sheepshead all in play, and if I get the Heaver completed I may sling a shark bait out. I've hit a snag on the reusing the guides, no time to order, and it's getting a bit more difficult to get heavy wire frame guides. I want to match the tip and keep somewhat correct, and the only size 30 tip I can find not a roller is wire frame as was original.

My wife and I are in the Outer Banks now for our anniversary. We've been here since Saturday, but this is the first good fishing weather day. We have caught Croaker, Speckled Trout, Spot, Puffer, Flounder, baby Black Drum, Bluefish, Sandbar Shark, and Stingray. We only fish from the surf.
I have several heavers, but I seem to only catch on my medium and light rods.
