Extra wide gap bass worm hook 1/0 to 5/0 sizes. Tie a small length of mono to it and make a perfection loop to loop onto your ring or pinky finger. Helps extract the retaining ring and then if the shield gets stuck, I'll lightly tap the bearing against the handle of a wrench to pop them out. This helps when you're greasing the bearing and need to keep the shields intact to seal the bearing after greasing.

Exacto knife, punches through easy.   There are different "duties" of knife and blade, mine is semi-heavy duty.
