We have been asked many times why we wipe off the grease and leave a thin coat.  The main reason it to allow the water to run off the surface, like waxing the surface of the car.  Second is to keep salt from builing up on/in the grease.  Here is a pic of a reel that I recently serviced.  Under all the salty grease was a fairly clean reel, but if the grease wasn't built up, it is likely that the salt would not have accumulated.
:D I talk with every part I send out and each reel I repair so that they perform at the top of their game. :D

Yuuuuumm...looks good enough to spread on some black bread and drink a beer ;D
It may not be very productive,
but it's sure going to be interesting!

Is that the Tonic that Lucy was selling on T V ?
I have not failed.  I just found 10,000 ways that won't work.

No that was "vitameatavegamin."  ;D Great sit com episode. Dominick
Leave the gun.  Take the cannolis.

There are two things I don't like about fishing.  Getting up early in the morning and boats.  The rest of it is fun.
