S/S gear sleeve arrived from Alan today and fitted.Drag star was a little 'tight' but,with some gentle persuasion the sleeve smoothed out the thread in the star and she now works perfectly. Am I just imagining things or does the reel now feel more 'solid'.?

I agree, the SS sleeves do do something that makes the reel feel stronger. I'm guessing it sits on the bridge exactly square and has a tighter tolerance to the post. I know I can crakn harder w/ the SS sleeve.
