Folks,

Hers's a quick question. Do any of you periodically dissassemble your Kolekar grips to grease/lube, if so what do you do? What can I use to polish my Kolekar grips with to bring back that brand new shine? Here's my response to some of you ahead of time: "The same to you."  ;D ;D

Thanx,

Good Question Leo,
I'm thinking maybe some fine steel wool or very fine sandpaper to bring the luster back.

Hey Daron,

I tried some xxx 3M pads and it just seemed to smear things up a bit. I also found my tube's of Mother's wheel polish, and some semi-chrome to work on my Keta Kranks. Im thinking some kind of wax.......let me know what you come-up with. Do you lube your grips?  ;D ;D ;D There's no way in the world for that to come out right!

Any reel handle that can be dismantled should be periodically stripped cleaned and lubricated.
Penn torpedo handles and side plates can all be polished using a cotton/calico mop and alumina oxide abrasive compound.
I imagine this process would also work for Kolekar grips.

LTM

Thank you Irish Jigger, will give that a try soon!

Did you use loctite when installing it?

I have installed a couple, and used loctite.  I was wondering about spraying some reel-x on the handle after letting the loctite dry for a few weeks.

Thanks, Lee. It's pretty cool in the work shop so I thought extra time wouldn't hurt. The question is whether the ReelX or Yamaha grease would affect the loctite.

I've used 242 and 271 around turbine and gear oil as well as acid and caustic liquids and it was not degraded.
